Install & Setup WebSite

Copy Wsite11e.exe to a directory on your hard disk. Run Wsite11e.exe by double clicking in explorer or using the Run Menu command.

Follow the directions of the install wizard. I used the defaults and experienced no problems. If you have already been building a web site locally then you want to indicate the root folder in the Existing Web page of the wizard. Fig 1. Also, if your "home page" is named default.htm then change index.* to default.htm. Both settings can be changed after install.

Figure 1:

You need to supply a server name in the Host's Domain Name wizard page. Fig 2. Type localhost or 127.0.0.1 in the edit. I prefer to use localhost as it causes fewer problems in setup.

Figure 2:

You must also supply an e-mail address for the administrator. Unless you are using a mailserver as well this e-mail can't work so just add anything here.

WebSite will install at this point. After installation start WebSite from the Start Menu. Run the WebSite Server Self-test. If eveything is working OK then set your browser to open http://localhost/default.htm or whatever your home page is called.

If you do experience problems tey adjusting the settings in the server properties dialog.
